Glossary


Commonly used transit terms.

Block

A collection of trips assigned to a vehicle for a day.

Direction

One of two possible directions of travel on a route.

Location ID

The unique number that indentifies each stop.

Pattern

A travel path through the street network to visit selected stops for one trip.

Route

A collection of ordered stops presented by a name such as route no. 801 ‘SLC/Orem/Provo Express’.

Timepoint

One of several stops on each route that serves as a benchmark to determine if the trip is running on time.

Trip

An iteration of a vehicle traveling along a given pattern.
